You should definitely visit the old part of the city, you will discover a great architectural beauty that will envelop you in an enchanting atmosphere. In the old part of the city you will find the Town Hall and the 15th century square, Labradores street, a promenade well known for its numerous bars and restaurants, as well as being an ideal place to go for tapas or drinks. The Barrio de Santa Cruz, a picturesque and original area not to be missed. You will be struck by its houses, its people and the feeling of another place.
Beaches and nature
It is indisputable that Alicante offers beautiful beaches and landscapes where you can relax in the open air. If you travel to this magnificent place you can't miss the Playa del Postiguet, in the centre of the city and at the foot of the Castle of Santa Bárbara and next to the Explanda promenade. Another essential beach is Albufereta Beach, located in the northwest of the city, between the Serra Grossa and the Tossal de Manises in an area of important archaeological sites. San Juan Beach is a paradise of fine sands and transparent waters.
Of course, you can't leave without visiting the beautiful Tabarca Island, a paradisiacal place 22 kilometres from the city.
Cultural offer
There are certain buildings considered mandatory stops if you visit this area. First go to the Castle of Santa Bárbara, a medieval fortress from which you can contemplate a wonderful view of the bay.
Do not miss the town hall, the market, Casa Carbonell or the Basilica of Santa María. As for the museums that the city houses, the Provincial Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante or the Museum of Fine Arts Gravina stand out.
